Birthday Morning!
I am so glad that the boys' birthday was on a day that Todd got to be home. It would have been so sad to not get to celebrate it with him in person! We got up and kicked the day off with some biscuits shaped like ones. They were a hit.

Laney requested a heartshaped one.
Biscuits were heartily enjoyed by the birthday boys!

We played around the house that morning, and the boys got to participate in a game of "school" with Laney. At this point, they are both "wearing" tags to distinguish them as the line leaders. I think that Sam was skeptical about his title being shared with Miles.
Grommy came home at lunch so that the boys' could open their present from her. Laney took charge in telling them when it was time to unwrap it.
Then she decided that they needed some help.
They were really excited about the awesome wagon that Grommy got for them.
They had to get right in for a test drive.
Whoa, big sister. Slow down!
After wagon play, it was time for afternoon naps and then off to their party!!!! It was such a great day!

Birthday Party for Thing One and Two!!!
The boys' birthday was a Thing One and Thing Two theme, which was a lot of fun putting together. Jessica opened up her house for our celebration and it was perfect!

These cupcakes were the catalyst for my decision to choose the Dr. Seuss theme. I saw them on a blog and fell in love with how cute they were. Not too hard either, once I drove all over the city looking for blue cotton candy. I just baked red velvet cupcakes, printed out thing one and two circles and glued them on the red liners, iced them with white icing, and then pulled apart strips of blue cotton candy to look like their crazy hair.
They were cute, really cute, but they literally lasted a matter of seconds before the cotton candy started to melt together and minutes until it was just a flat glob of blue on top of the cupcakes. Enlarge the picture of the table and you can see my pitiful creations!
I also made these little Cat in the Hat cookies. They were just white-iced sugar cookies with stacked life savers and cinnamon discs. Kind of an odd flavor combination, but if great taste had been my end game, we probably would have needed to eliminate several key ingredients to the evening's menu. Blue cotton candy being an obvious start.
Thing One's (born at 3:59) cake and stuffie.
Thing Two's (born at 4:02)
Our treat bags.
Amazing to think that it has been a year since the first time I held these two sweet Things.

The kids got to make their own Cat in the Hat hats, and Claire was happy to model hers with Thing Two.
She gave him a turn, but he was not in love with the experience.

He did love showing off his birthday shirt and his awesome free standing skills.
Big Sister camped out on the counter for a while next to the chip bowl.
Aunt Hailey might have been playing one of her favorite games titled, "Drop the Baby". It does not, however, actually involve dropping the baby!
Birthday hats on! Thing One and Two bibs secured! It's go time! Where's dinner??
Melissa, Josh and Gabe got to come to the party which brought much joy to Laney's heart. They sat together to eat their soup and were cracking each other up!

As always Laney and Josh played a hysterical game of chase. Josh is not in this picture, so I guess he was being chased by Laney at this time.

They moved on to some wagon riding and pushing. They had so much fun together and then with Ella Grace who arrived a little later. So glad that Laney got to have fun with her friends!
I am seeing a pattern of pictures of my children looking up adoringly at Aunt Cait.
Pops and Nae Nae drove all the way from Cona after work to make it to the boys' party. Definitely not an easy task! It meant so much to me to have them there! I think that Miles was pretty thrilled to get to see his Pops too.......

Bobbis and Kevin gave the boys these little motorcycles! They are rockers right now, but they convert to little trikes that have a push bar, so we can push them. Then they convert to just plain trikes. So cool!
Time to open the rest of their presents!!!! So much fun!

Love this worried expression. Miles's forehead crinkles together exactly like mine does. I have seen pictures of myself as a child looking exactly like this. Poor guy, the wrinkles that await you....
Bobbis grabbed Sam for some of the present opening. The boys were working a little close to their bedtime, so there was a bit of neediness happening. Luckily there were plenty of people on hand to help keep them in good spirits!
Miles got some Aunt Jessa love!

Pops snagged a little snuggle time with Bones just before it was cake time!!!
We had such an amazing night with our friends and family. Our kids are so blessed to be loved so well by so many!

Let Them Eat Cake!!!!
The boys' birthday was last Monday and we had their party that night since it was the only feasible time for Todd to be at the party. It was pretty small, but really fun. Some of the most fun was had watching the boys dig into their cakes.
I love watching babies tear into their cake at their one year birthday. The boys were definitely not an exception. They went in with reckless abandon...... as evidenced here!
Their party was a Thing One and Thing Two theme, so I ordered these little smash cakes for them. We all hated to see them destroyed because they were so so cute!
My mom had to hold the boys' hands because Sam kept trying to grab the flame!
Everyone started clapping which is always Miles's signal to join in too.

Here goes nothing!

We had to put the trays on their boosters so that they could get closer to their cakes and have some easier access.
Which led to this....

and this.....

Happy Halloween!!!!
We had a very interesting night on Halloween. It was definitely not lacking in excitement! I really wanted to have a theme for our kids this year. I tried like crazy to convince Laney to be a princess so that her brothers could be frogs. One would not think that it would be too too difficult to convince a three and a half year old girl to be a princess, but Laney wouldn't have it. She found out that Claire and Tessie were going to be pumpkins and from that moment on she had her heart set on joining them. I am so glad that I let her have her wish, because I love the costumes that each of our kids ended up wearing.
Sam dressed up as a skeleton in honor of his nickname, BONES! This picture is from a trial run of costumes last week while Todd was home which is why you get to see his lovely face in the background!
Our little Moo Man got to dress up as a cow!
He made a seriously cute little Moo Cow!

We are just seconds from go time in this picture and Laney was so super excited to get the show on the road.

Oh I love how much big sister loves her brothers!

Evidence that Miles was not a fan of the hood!
This picture is so funny to me because it looks like Miles is holding his finger up to tell me, "just one second!" Or maybe it was to say, "just one more picture, please!"

Once were all done taking pictures at Grommy's house, we got all packed up to go over to Jessica's house for our annual Chili feast before trick or treating. As we were walking out to the car, Laney was dive bombed by a angry yellow jacket! (We have been dealing with a hive for a while now, but it has now been successfully eradicated!) It stung her right on the lip and it was awful!!!! She cried for about 30 minutes mostly for Daddy. It got terribly swollen and it was really just about the most pitiful situation ever. I was so sad for her! She still wanted to go over to her cousins' house, so once she calmed down we headed over to The Goods stopping at Granny and Jim's along the way to load down her treat basket!!!
Here is what she looked like when we got to Jessica's house (post chocolate spider eating.) So pitiful! Jack said that we should have changed her costume and dressed her up like Angelina Jolie!
The first smile since before the attack was a result of this plastic spider ring!!! Way to go Aunt Jess.
SO BIG!!!! is one of the boys' new favorite tricks.
Rejuvenated with chocolate and plastic spider rings, Laney was ready for the night to begin!
I was so happy to see Laney back to herself again even though she still looked like she was the victim of a collagen injection gone very very wrong. She was laughing so hard running around with her costume half way on making her look a little bit like Quasimoto.
Laney loves Claire so much!
My mom is dressed as "One Night Stand." She borrowed this costume from a friend at work. It was so funny. The phone resting on the table even made noises that my boys got a kick out of!
The boys would probably play all day at this step. They are so entertained with climbing up and back down again. I love when they play together like this!
Our little pumpkin patch! The girls could not have been cuter together in their matching pumpkins. I am glad that Laney was so insistent on this costume, because I loved it!!!!
Our very first house!!! Trick Or Treat!!!!!
My cute little sister was all decked out in as an angel! I must note that I had to go back inside Lezlie's house to get this costume after 30 minutes of consoling Laney in the car. I got stung on the shoulder on my way back out! I guess it was worth it to see Caiter dressed as the angel that she is! Johnny was not so angelic in his steroid using baseball player getup. It was so funny. Please take notice of his stuffed biceps!

Bones and Moo were quite the lucky little ducks. I mentioned something about the stroller, but Grommy, Aunt Hailey, and Aunt Cait were quick to jump in and offer up their arms instead. Pretty sweet deal for the boys.

My mom got some pretty funny comments. Our favorite? "One night stand? Yeah, been there, done that!"
"Break out at the pumpkin patch!" was one of my favorite comments of the night!
Laney was not deterred by the massive growth on her lip. She was ready at every door to say, "trick or treat." She was a little quieter than usual, but she wasn't going to let a little yellow jacket poison slow her down!

Somehow I lucked into getting to hold the hands of these two little pumpkins all night long. I was holding hands with Laney and offered my hand to Tess and we stayed like that for the rest of the night. It was so fun!

Miles fell asleep with his guardian angel!
Johnny took over and carried this sleepy little cow back to The Goods' house.

Once we got there, Miles was ready with a second wind to play with Johnny, but it was way past time for bed!! Halloween night last year was the beginning of crazy times for us. I trick or treated with Laney and ended up at the hospital in the middle of the night with some scary symptoms. It is hard not to think that trick or treating might have contributed to these boys' arrival just 36 hours later!

Halloween cookies!
We made Halloween cookies for Laney's teachers last week. She made this cookie special for "her monster." If you live in the metroplex and ever drive to downtown Ft. Worth, then you have seen the huge scary monster that pops up every year around Halloween on top of the building that hosts what is, I am sure, some terrifying haunted house. I seriously do not see the appeal to haunted houses. However, Laney loves this monster. She is typically a pretty timid child, so this is very uncharacteristic. This time last year, we saw it while driving to Nocona. It is actually holding its hands up in the sign language for I Love You, so we told her that it was telling her that it loved her. As we drove by it, she said, "Bye Bye Monster! I love you! Be safe!" It was hysterical! All year long whenever we drive to the zoo, to the Botanic Gardens, to Kamryn's house, or anywhere else in that direction, she asks about the monster. So when he popped back up this year, she was thrilled!
So thrilled, that she made this cookie specifically for her monster!
Not this one though. It was reserved for her teachers.
She started saying that her cookies were spooky and making this silly face while saying it.

She chose to eat a spider web...

Here are a few of our spooky creations!

Claire's Birthday!
A couple of weeks ago, we got to go to TrailDust to celebrate Claire's 5th birthday. Claire found out about a restaurant that had a giant indoor slide and a huge dance floor and she was convinced. It was the perfect place for our little family party. We missed Claire's friend party because it was on Todd's birthday and we were in Houston. I am still sad even while I type this that we missed her special day. Claire is such an extraordinary child. She has a kindness and compassion in her that I honestly don't think can be taught. It is just ingrained to who she is! She looks for ways to make other people happy and meet their needs. She truly puts others before herself. She would gladly give something up if she knew that it would make someone else feel better. I know that I am her aunt, but I seriously know that I would stand in awe of this exceptional five year old regardless of the relationship that I am so blessed to have with her! Happy Birthday Claire Bear! We love you like crazy!

As soon as we got to the restaurant, my little sister grabbed Sam and they started dancing together. The boys got to wear these adorable sweat shirts that Cait gave me for them before they were born. They were a little too big for my little preemies last winter, but they are perfect and as cute as can be this one!

Sam's love for Aunt Cait is pretty obvious!
Laney danced and danced along the edge of the stage. Her dancing can pretty much be defined as running back and forth a billion times with a giant smile on her face.

Sam and Miles sat on the railing with Cait and Johnny and watched the big kids go down the huge slide.
Looks like Miles was trying to get in on some the dancing action that Laney was loving so much. ?
Johnny and Cait manned the boys for a long time while Laney and I danced on stage.
"Don't 'get about Bobbis!" Laney says, "don't 'get about....." all the time. It totally cracks me up, but I definitely don't want to 'get about all the help that Bobbis was with the babies too.
Miles loves to grab the face. He really grabs a hold and won't let go. We have to keep those fingernails nice and short. Claire is truly amazingly sweet with the babies. She absolutely loves to find ways to make them smile, which is probably exactly what was going on in this picture.
a little flight time with Cait.
Laney wanted her own chance to dance with Aunt Cait.
Johnny and Laney played a quick game that consisted of running back and forth along the horseshoe trail. He's a fun one, that Johnny!

After all our Traildust fun, we went back to The Goods house for some cake, ice cream and present opening.
We got big hugs for our gift to Claire.

Laney loves Claire to bits.
