Let's Hear it for the Boys!!!!

What a whirlwind of days the past three have been for our new family of five!!! It started with a terrifying experience on Sunday afternoon. My water broke but was coupled with a partial placental abruption that caused a very large amount of bleeding. To say that I was scared is a huge understatement. My mom rushed to my house within minutes and we drove to the hospital while Todd waited for his mom to get to our house to stay with Laney. As soon as we got to the hospital, the nurses were able to find both boys' heartbeats going strong, which gave me the greatest relief I have ever felt in my life. I was four centimeters dilated with Miles definitely still in breech position, so we began making quick preparations for a c-section. It was still a little scary knowing that the boys were going to be born so early at just 34 weeks 3 days. The whole procedure was so fast that it feels like a blur. One minute I was getting a spinal and the next I was holding the two most beautifully and wonderfully made little boys that I have ever laid eyes on! They are amazing! Even though they are little guys who are not quite developmentally ready to take on all of the tasks of being a newborn, they are doing such a great job. They have three requirements before we are able to bring them home with us. They have to maintain a healthy body temperature, eat all their meals without a feeding tube, and be able to put on weight. Those are the three things that we ask you to join us in praying for. Obviously we want Miles and Sam to come home to us as soon as possible. I will probably check out of the hospital tomorrow or Thursday and we are praying that they are not far behind me.

Here are some pictures from our sons' birthday on Sunday!
Miles with Daddy!!!
Miles with me right after he made his debut!

Holding both boys our boys for the very first time. This was such a surreal moment. I could barely wrap my mind around it. I can't wait for many more moments with both of them in my arms!
It was great to have Todd right there with me the whole time. He did a great job of telling me everything that was happening and talking to me about the boys as things were happening.
Here is a picture of our beautiful little Sam!
Here is one of Mr. Miles in the NICU. He had to have an IV in his little hand because of a blood sugar issue that has since been completely remedied. No more IV for us, thank you!!!
These pictures are a little out of order, but I am too tired to deal with it. Big Sister was having a blast in the bathroom with Bobbis while we were in post-op.

This is a picture of Sam in the Nicu when I finally got to go and see the boys late in the evening.

And here is one of Sam from yesterday. He had a bath and his clean hair was so much blonder than it looked before.

This is a picture from today! The boys got to wear some cutie pie little preemie clothes because they are maintaining their temperatures!!!!! YAY!!!!! Check that box. One step closer to coming home!!!

And here is little Miles. His hair is much darker than Sams and his face is alot fuller.

Todd and I both getting to snuggle a little bit with Miles. We are getting to spend lots of time with them in the NICU. We get to go for every one of their feedings which happen every three hours. They are fed through their feeding tubes every other time and with a bottle every other time. We can hold them for both of those feedings, and we are taking advantage of all the time that we can spend with them in our arms.

Laney has been such a good girl this whole time. She still hasn't gotten to meet her baby brothers because no children are allowed in the NICU. She has gotten to visit us though, which has been such a blessing to me. I love seeing her and getting to play with her. The surgical gloves have held quite the appeal to her when she is visiting us!! Fun toys!
