Bobbis Playgroup!

We have initiated a weekly playdate with our cousins and Bobbis to make sure that we get to see my busy mom regularly! This week we met at a little park near our houses. Laney and Tessa were loving this slide.

Bobbis and the kids found lots of ladybugs in the tree at the park. Laney was so intrigued by them and even let it crawl on her hand for a little while.

We finished off our playdate with Bobbis with dinner and ice cream at McDonalds. Claire was so sweet to Laney. She took her all the way up to the top of the slides and down over and over.

Last Easter Post!

Because Todd has to get to church so early on Easter, or every Sunday really, we had to simulate Easter morning after Laney's nap. When she woke up we had her Easter Basket waiting for her. There are so many more traditions that I want to start with her. Obviously we want Easter to be about Christ's Resurrection rather than chocolate and bunnies. I have gotten so many ideas from other people (mainly my sister of course) of how to incorporate the resurrection story into our celebrations. I can't wait for next year! Laney loves lift the flap books, so I am really excited about getting to read her new Bible with her.

Bubbles!!!
After Laney looked at all of her treats from the Easter Bunny, we headed outside to hunt for eggs. I realize that we might have overdone it with egg hunting this year, but I really wanted to have our own hunt in our backyard. I have so many fun memories of egg hunts with my sisters in our yard growing up. I wanted to establish that tradition with Laney from the get go.
My sisters and I got to have egg hunts all the way until college. I am not kidding, my mom loves to celebrate and she loves traditions! So, while Laney was hunting her eggs, I was picturing her all grown up still running around our backyard.

Laney saw this bubble wand on the table about a week ago, and immediately ran to the back door, made sure she had shoes on, and started calling, "out...bubbles!" She was very excited to finally get to try it out!!

After we finished our Easter celebration together, we went to my mom's house for dinner and an egg hunt with my family.
After dinner, my little sister took the kids into my mom's room so that the Easter bunny could come and hide some eggs for them. Aunt Caitlin was so much fun all evening. Laney definitely loves her and doesn't get to spend enough time with her.

Laney wanted Aunt Caitlin to hold her for the entire egg hunt. Sweet Aunt Caitlin was happy to oblige!

Happy Easter!

Our church had a gigantic egg hunt after the service on Sunday. The service was incredible. Todd is the creative director at our church, and he and his team put together such an amazing experience. I volunteer in the media department under him and I got to run a camera on Sunday morning, so I saw the service three times. Each time it was full of passion and excitement about the precious meaning of Easter.

We joined hundreds of other families after church for what was touted as "the world's largest Easter egg hunt" I am not sure that we should be calling Guiness Book, but it was seriously huge.
Laney did love carrying her basket around because it is so very purselike.

I kept trying to encourage Laney to start hunting by telling her that the eggs were filled with candy. I think this is her attempt to see if I was telling the truth or not.

This was probably like 15 minutes into the egg hunt and there were still eggs everywhere. Everyone was leaving and there were still hundreds of eggs on the ground.

Grandmommy was in charge of the whole gigantic egg hunt, and she did a fabulous job. Here she is opening an egg up for her favorite little hunter!Which is definitely worthy of a kiss!!

Very proud of all her eggs!! And, now she is ready to head to the truck, take a nap and get rested up for the rest of the festivities.

Easter Celebration at Grandmommy's

We went to Grandmommy's house on Saturday night to have an Easter celebration with her and Aunt Hailey. Lezlie had a beautiful Easter table with baskets for each of us. You're never too old to enjoy a basket full of candy!! We also got to spend some time with Granny (Great Granny) which is always such a treat. I love this picture that looks like Laney and Great Granny are giving knucks!

We spend most of our time at Grandmommy's house in Laney's playroom. There are lots of fun toys in there and it is so great to just watch her play!!

Laney could not believe all the candy treats in her basket. She was in awe. She kept saying "pop" because she wanted to eat all her lollipops. Although she was happy to settle for all the jellybeans and peanut butter cups that Aunt Hailey was sneaking her!

This light up spinner was a huge hit. She laughed at it the whole way home in the truck.

This was Laney's first egg hunt of the year and probably her most enjoyed. She got really excited about finding the eggs. We even re-hid them twice for her to do all over again. At all of her subsequent hunts, she was much more hesitant.

I love this picture. "Where are all the eggs, guys???"
Also, what is that funny picture on the tv. Are we measuring the waistline of a tomato???

Laney relishing in the bliss that is the combination of peanut butter and chocolate.

Dying Eggs

After we decorated cookies, I stripped Laney out of her icing covered clothes and we got ready to dye eggs. I wasn't sure how this was going to play out, but we managed to get through it, have fun, and not bathe our entire kitchen in neon dye!Laney was seriously concentrating on stirring the egg in the die. I don't really think that this is a necessary step of egg dying, but she was very committed to her duty.

She even took over clean up responsibilities. Cleaning is one of her favorite things to do in any situation. She loves to get a Clorox wipe and go all over the house wiping down surfaces with it. So, when she spilled some dye, she grapped the towel from me and got to work.

We tried to use the "magic crayon" on our eggs, but we weren't that successful.

She was so cute and careful.

Note, the splashing dye coming out of the bucket. An almost two year old can only be so careful.

We ended the afternoon with a rainbow of eggs later to be turned into deviled eggs that look a little gross because of the dye seeping through.
