Scrap blogging!

I saw this scrapblogging website on Andrea's website and got totally sucked in. I keep trying to make this my header to no avail. I think that I am not technologically savvy enought for that! It was fun playing around with it though!

Art Day!!!

On Monday, we got to go the Upstairs Art Gallery with our playgroup. Jackie's parents own the gallery, so we got VIP treatment! It was so much fun. Our kids filled the room, and they all sat so quietly and attentively as the teacher explained each project. We parents were given strict instructions that this artwork was to be our kiddos work, and not ours. I was happy to let Laney let her creative juices flow!
Their first project was to paint a flower! They started with a paintbrush and painted the green stem with leaves.
Once her stem was finished to her satisfaction, Laney decided that the table needed a little bit of green as well!
Here is cute G modeling what the stem and leaves was supposed to look like!
Laney loved using her fingers to paint yellow on to her stem. It was supposed to just make the center of her flower, but she was having way too much fun to make her stop there.

I couldn't convince Laney to put her red fingerprints on her flower. She was determined to paint all over the paper towels right next to her flower. So, her flower ended up with just one little red petal! Messy hands....and arms....and legs....and feet! That is half the fun though!
Once Laney found the snack station, she had a cookie in hand at all times. Maybe she realized that I would not be the biggest fan of that plan, so she snuck under the table to eat. If you notice, though, she has a cookie with her for the remainder of our pics, so obviously I am a pushover!
Eyes on your own paper please!
Next up, coloring grass on our papers and making cotton ball ducks. Laney's grass was awesome. Not alot of fine motor skills necessary to scribble green lines on your paper!
Now, time to glue the cotton balls onto the paper in a manner that resembles a duck body. Got that Laney?? Sorry no help from Mama! Make it work!

Laney had to take some breaks from all that hard work. It was a little difficult to create masterpieces with a cookie in hand.
Once I moved Laney's chair closer to Tessa, she had a renewed interest in artwork! Anything is more fun if Laney gets to do it with Tess!
Laney was sharing her lemonade with Tessa. She is such a nurturer, even when someone doesn't want nurturing! Tessa is ever indulgent with Laney though!
This piece of art was supposed to be Laney's name written in marker with tissure paper pieces glued on the letters. Laney decided to turn it into lemonade art, began dipping her napkin into her drink, and smearing it all over the glue and marker. She definitely had ownership of her project!
After all the artwork was "completed" most of the big kids headed over to the gallery portion of the museum. We didn't figure that the little ones would fully appreciate/respect the works of art, so they stayed behind with a few mommies to clean up. It was so cute to see just all of our little ones together.

Turtle Time with Willy T.

On our way out of Austin last weekend, we got to meet Lamar, Jill, and Tyler for lunch. We had some yummy yummy barbeque at this restaurant on the river. After lunch, Tyler and Laney and their daddies went out to the dock with our leftover bread to feed the zillions of turtles in the water.

Both of them probably would have jumped right in if we had let them. Not a lot of fear or hesitation here!

Here is a shot of Laney and all the boys. Guess she is going to have to get used to that!

A little more monkey business! Laney was taking a lesson from Tyler, who loves to hang from anything hang from-able. (remember that we were out of town, so that is my excuse for no bloomers to cover that diaper!)

Monkey Feet!

While we were driving to meet Lamar and Jill for lunch today, I was putting some lip gloss on. I usually have to do this very covertly, because if Laney sees my lip gloss, she starts shouting, "I want try!" And obviously, sometimes I let her. This afternoon, she decided she needed to hold the gloss wand thing with her toes. She had some remarkable control with it too. It reminded me of paintings that I have seen that people painted entirely with their feet! Maybe I should look into some training!Once she realized that Todd and I were laughing really hard at her, she was cracking herself up too.

Kennedy Clover Quintanilla!

Introducing the catalyst of the very first fight between our twins. Which one of them is going to get to marry Kennedy Quintanilla?!?! Seriously, this weekend in Austin, I finally started feeling the twinsies moving around for sure. Todd even felt Baby B one night, which was so fun!! So, I think that they are already duking it out for little Kennedy's heart!!!!
Laura and David welcomed Kennedy to the world on July 14th, so she was already almost two weeks old when we finally got to meet her! She is so beautiful and sweet. We loved getting to visit them for a little while this weekend!

Of course I couldn't help imagining two babies every time I got to hold this sweet girl! Laney was so intrigued by Kennedy. We had to remind her lots that she had to be gentle. She wanted to kiss all over her and touch her cheeks non stop. She loved her. Whenever Kennedy left the room to go eat with Laura, Laney would cry and stand at their door until she could "see baby Keddy" again!

Some of the before mentioned Laney lovin'

Kennedy looks so much like Laura it is crazy. No wonder she is such a beauty!!
Love this picture of Todd, Kennedy, and Luke Wilson!

Look at her smiling up at me! Atta girl!
Right before we had to say goodbye to Miss Kennedy. Laney had to field some calls first though!

Play Dough!

Laney and I had a fun week to ourselves this week. My sister, and our entire playgroup for that matter, volunteered at their church's VBS this week. Janelle left for Africa. Melissa went to youth camp with their church. So Laney and I had lots of fun hanging out together at home, which was just what the doctor ordered for this emotional mommy who is starting to realize that these minutes alone with my girl are numbered.

We decided to make some play dough one afternoon. Laney loves to help me cook and she really loves to lick the spoons, so it was a little challenging convincing her not to try and eat this as we were making it. Her nakedness is not due to a fear that she would get messy. It is because she was soaking wet due to her obsession with playing in the sink every single chance she gets!

The rolling pin was Laney's favorite play dough utensil. I was trying to show her how to make snakes and roll the dough into a ball, but she was all about the rolling pin!

Laney has really been enjoying cutting her pretend food up lately. Aunt Hailey gave her some fun food that velcroes together thus making it easy for her to "cut it up" I figured she would love using her knife to cut up her play dough, but she was really just into using her little cookie cutters.

20 Weeks!

This would normally be the halfway point, but probably not for us since we get to have twinsies!!! My doctor told me that 36 weeks is considered term with twins, and that he can't see me going past 38 weeks, which means that we are past the halfway point by at least one week. That is crazy to me. The past 20 weeks have flown by and to think that in that amount of time we will have two precious little boys in our arms is amazing!!!! Right now they are supposed to be the length of a banana!!! Wowie Kazowie! I got to hear their heartbeats on Monday and they were strong as ever! I am still feeling maybe movement on the right side mostly, and can't wait for more action!!!
I have gotten really emotional about Laney lately and how our lives are about to be so different...so great, but so different. She is going to be the big girl and it won't be just us playing together anymore. I literally could not be more excited about our boys, but I am just realizing how precious this time with just her as our one and only has been and I want to embrace every second of it!

Introducing Ranger!!!

Grant got a puppy as an early birthday present last week. This little Boston Terrier is just about the cutest thing that I have ever seen. Grant named him Ranger with a middle name of T-Rex! He is so tiny and such a bouncy little energetic puppy. Laney and I went over last weekend to introduce ourselves to Ranger. She loved him!!!! He was jumping up on her and giving her kisses and she was laughing like crazy.
She and Tessa started giving Ranger a makeover. Laney is brushing and blow drying his hair as he sits patiently (?) in Aunt Jessica's lap!
Staring him down!
Tessa is giving him a manicure. Such cute girls.

Fun on the Computer!

Until very very recently, Laney has not been interested in "learning." By learning I certainly don't mean that we have been having lessons that she has been shirking. I just mean that she didn't really want to do colors puzzles with me, or help me draw sidewalk chalk shapes, or sing the ABCs. I have been completely fine with that and have just tried to continue presenting her with opportunities. Lately, she has started having more fun with those kinds of activities. She counts to six now and I don't mean that she says "two" six times consecutively. She is starting to sing the ABCs and likes to find letters on the fridge. She can point out and say the names of lots of colors and seems to like pink the best! She can find a sidewalk chalk circle, square, triangle, and heart and stand on them when asked (a game we learned from Tessie!) She sings "Twinkle Twinkle" and makes starbursts with her hands and a diamond with her fingers and thumbs when we get to the end, although she doesn't sing any other words yet. As soon as we are done with Twinkle Twinkle, she starts rubbing her fists together back and forth to sing Itsy Bitsy Spider. She does all the motions for that, but just says "DOWN" and "WASH!" She still sings "Bible Bible" for Jesus Loves Me, but now she says "Jesus" and "So" too. Love it!!!! Whenever I pray for her at night or at meals, she says, "I try!! I try!!" Then she puts both hands on her cheeks (?) and says
A! men!
Lots of Laney's friends are way more verbal than she is, but we are not at all concerned. Waiting a little longer to hear her sweet voice and get to talk to her about stuff just made it that much sweeter. Kind of like all those months of waiting to get to kiss her chubby cheeks and hold her tight!
Well, I hadn't intended on all that, but I know that I will be glad one day to be able to look back at Laney's developments!

On Sunday morning Laney was trying to play with my laptop and I was trying to stop her. Then I decided to try and find some toddler games for her to see if she would be interested. We ended up here and Laney loved it!! She had the most fun counting the score and choosing the animal to match the sound.
She was so super excited to be allowed to push the buttons. She kept looking over at me with her shifty eyes like she was waiting for me to change my mind.

Something must have been "So big!"
