Houston Stock Show!

On the second day of our visit to Houston, we went downtown to the Stock Show. Todd was really excited about our trip to see him and he spent a lot of time figuring out all the fun things that we could do together. I kept getting little messages and texts from him the week before like, "we might go to the stock show. pack western clothes." So cute! He also researched and found parks, trolley rides, cool outdoor restaurants with water gardens, all sorts of fun things for our family. He's a sweet one.

Here we are in our "western clothes," waiting for Todd to get through the ticket line.

Laney and Miles did a little dancing while we waited.
Hugs! This always starts sweet but can end badly for either or both of the participants.

Once we got through gates, we came upon this cowboy statue, which we converted into our own jungle gym for a little while!
Our first stop once we got into the convention center was the "AG-venture" Area. There was a petting zoo, ponies to ride, baby animals to observe and lots more kid friendly stuff. We started out checking out an area designated for all the different types of cows.
If this trip is any indication, I think that Sam is a candidate for FFA (future farmers of america) for sure. He loved it. He was completely thrilled by all of the animals. He got so excited by all of them.

Then we walked over to a case that was full of eggs and they were literally hatching right before our eyes. It was so amazing. A little bit ookey, but still amazing! The baby chicks were pecking their way out and emerging into the world. I felt so proud of them!

Next, we turned around to see the grown up chickens.
Pretty sure that Sam was waving at them here.

Sam kept turning and checking to make sure that we were all seeing all the cool things that he was seeing. It was seriously adorable!
Laney was not that interested in the hens, but she was very interested in silly games with Todd.
Miles is so authentic, chewing on his piece of straw.
We couldn't pass by this opportunity to test out how our kids would look as mutton busters!
Cute.....................
Cute.................

Cute........
Uh-oh.....isn't there an age limit in this category??

Laney is so sweet and patient with me, her photo loving mom. She is always willing to at least try and smile for the camera. Miles is not quite on board yet, but I will wear him down!

This would have been so cute of my three. If not for the distraction of cotton candy for Miles and what looks to be fingers for Sam.....

Sam and Todd tried hiding from us behind the doors of this truck, but Sam's moppy hair gave them away!
It seems like Sam got to do most of the adventuring. Miles was just more content in the stroller than Sam was this particular day. If someone is happy in the stroller, that is where they get to stay! Laney was happy to be Miles's riding buddy for most of the time!
Our last stop of the day was to visit all the brand new baby animals. There was kind of a long line to see them, and Sam busted out of Todd's arms to check out this picture of a cow.

We got to see this real life baby cow. It was born that day!!!!

Oh Mommy Pig........you are amazing!
Twin Boys! We do love twin boys around here!
Once we got through looking at all those sweet little babies, Laney was very excited to lead the way back through the convention center. The sugar from the cotton candy must have started to get to her because she could not stop the giggles!

When we finally walked what felt like a million miles back to our car, this is what we all felt like! We had a really great time!

I am so glad you guys are getting to enjoy some of the great things in Houston. It is a wonderful place to live and there is so much to do and see in the area around here. Don't listen to any of the nay-sayers (like the Coles) you will have plenty to do here! ;)

So fun! That's the ultimate Houston experience. Next year you and Todd need to brave the rodeo and a concert.
